Calva Louise

STYLE.

Alternative Rock, Electronica –  perfect for people who enjoy taking on a good challenge

BIO.

Jess Allanic (Guitar/Lead Vocals), Alizon Taho (Bass/Backing Vocals), Ben Parker (Drums/Backing Vocals) formed Calva Louise in London in 2016, and got to work developing a sound that is entirely their own, blending eye watering aggression and stadium ready anthems with ambitious songwriting and outright hooks.

It’s telling that a band comprised of such eclectic nationalities (Venezuelan, French and English/New Zealander) are influenced as much by British, American and Latin Rock.

They performed sold out concerts across the UK and EU, and supported world-famous artists like Highly Suspect, Razorlight and Albert Hammond Jr.

Calva Louise singles found heavy rotation across BBC Radio 1 (Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Jack Saunders and Abbie McCarthy), BBC6 Music (Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Shaun Keaveny and the legendary Iggy Pop) and playlisting across Radio X, Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer, as well as live sessions at BBC Maida Vale Studios and X-posure with John Kennedy. The EP POPURRÍ was independently released on July 31st 2020, containing CAMINO, POP and I WISH.

On December 4th, Calva Louise released NINE LIVES, a track co-written with Strange Bones, after both bands recently signed with the American label FRKST, an imprint of 300 Entertainment run by Johnny Stevens, Highly Suspect frontman.

Q & A.

FOR THOSE THAT HAVEN’T HEARD OF YOU BEFORE, DESCRIBE YOUR BAND IN ONE SENTENCE:

Alizon: It is a constantly evolving burst of energy with honesty at its core.

Ben: Calva Louise is a living machine that breathes its energy through music.

INFLUENCES?

Growing up we were huge fans of bands like Queens Of The Stone Age, Muse, Calle 13, Noir Désir, and recently Highly Suspect, Ghost, and of course Strange Bones who we are now working as a team with!

YOUR FAVOURITE MUSIC VENUE IN THE UK:

The Priory in Glasgow, it has an unique underground atmosphere and that’s where we met Strange Bones for the first time!

SHARE WITH US AN INTERESTING ANECDOTE BEHIND ONE OF YOUR SONGS:

While Bobby (Strange Bones) and I were writing together, the idea of Nine Lives not only came from that motivation to live our lives the way we want to, but also from our inside joke about our cat Henry, because he’s the boss of the house and lives his life with no limitations

WE ARE PROUDLY SUBCULTURE INSPIRED. HOW ABOUT YOU?:

Independence is in our blood, it has allowed us to face many great challenges as well as experience total freedom!
