Q & A.
YOUR MUSIC
What influences your musical style?
The 2000’s alt scene that we grew up with is what made us pick up instruments in the first place. A lot of our songwriting has foundations in the style of that era.
Which bands and artists have inspired you?
Linkin Park, Deftones and Glassjaw are some of the bands that introduced us to the scene when we were young so we owe them a lot.
Notable more recent influences are?
Basement, Movements, Spanish Love Songs and so many more. We’ve followed the alt scene through the years so pretty much any band that has kept it alive has resonated with us in some way.
Share with us an interesting anecdote behind any of your songs
We actually started jamming out the instrumental for ‘Another Ghost’ way back before Covid hit. This was before we even had a name or a bassist. We had like two practices before lockdown hit and the whole thing was abandoned before we decided to get back together and revive it in 2022.
OTHER THINGS
We are anti bullying – What’s your advice for victims of bullying ?
Don’t be afraid to speak out or ask for help. If you don’t feel like you’re strong enough to stand up for yourself you’ll find with the support of the right people that you can.
If you are to be described as an animal, what would it be?
Probably a meerkat or something. I can get highly energetic and unfocused at times. I also like biting and chewing things/people. – Dave
Your favourite music venue in the UK:
Newport’s Le Pub is a big one. It’s been a cornerstone for the South Wales music scene for some time now having done a lot for local and touring bands. The Frog and Fiddle in Cheltenham has also been amazing to us. They work hard, constantly putting on sick shows and festivals. Everyone attached to the place is golden too.
We are proudly Subculture inspired. How about you?
We’re proudly Emo. Our subculture is our main culture.
PLAYLIST QUESTIONS
You are sent to Mars, no check in baggage and you can take one record- which one?
‘Honky Château’ – Elton John. It’s the album that has Rocket Man on it. It’s a bop and it would just fit really well thematically. – Dave
A guilty pleasure number?
Anything by Motley Crüe. I’m not usually into hair metal or cock rock at all but their production is so massive it’s hard not to get into it a little. – Kyle
The first music your bought
“Take This to Your Grave” by Fall Out Boy, I remember hearing Dead on Arrival on a CD that came free with Kerrang! and slowly becoming obsessed with it, still absolutely rinse that album. – Leah
The first live gig you attended.
I really got into Red Hot Chili Peppers after hearing ‘Fortune Faded’ and went to see them live soon after that. – Kyle
Is there a song you wish you had written?
Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade. Or any big Christmas hit really. We’d be set for life if we’d written one of those. – Tom
