STYLE: ALTERNATIVE ROCK
PERFECT FOR: Savvy indie rockers that need a touch of goth-pop revival in their tunes
WHO: Lucia Fairfull, Alasdair Scott, Christopher Ballantyne and Adam Campbell
WHERE FROM: Glasgow, Scotland
STARTED PERFORMING: Since 2016
Since their debut EP Best Boys in 2017, Lucia & the Best Boys have garnered a dedicated following with their splendid guitar shredding and thumping drums. Their latest music saw the band dive headfirst into their 80s inspirations such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Stevie Nicks, New Order, while retaining the fierceness of their 90s grunge influence – not to mention that frontwoman Lucia Fairfull’s beautifully ghoulish vocals has absolutely mesmerised their audience.
Following their much-loved 2020 EP ‘Eternity’, the indie quartet is returning with their new EP The State of Things. The first single ‘Perfectly Untrue’ signals the sweeping, alt-pop laden direction the band is heading instead of their earlier gritty and grizzled sound.
Often discussing heartbreak (which cleverly contrasts the melody) in their music, Lucia & the Best Boys have a way to prompt others to re-examine their self-worth and offer an outlet for others to share their grief. “The ‘Happy Go Lucky’ sound of ‘Perfectly Untrue’ portrays the fake joy I pushed myself to feel in order to avoid the sad truth, which is displayed in the lyrics that are also coated in glitter and glamour.”
