Victoria Grant’s name is upon the lips of those in the highest, most glamorous circles, while her extraordinary hats sit upon their heads. Based in London, Grant has been designing hats for many a superstar generation across the world. As all eyes turned to our great city for London Fashion Week, Café Royal opened it’s doors for a spectacular show- Victoria Grant’s Hat Hall of Fame. What better time, what better place and who better to represent all that is stylish and creative in Britain!
For over 150 years the Cafe Royal has attracted society’s creme de la creme, lords, ladies and legends would come to for the regal atmosphere and superb wine list. Now they will come for the hats! The exhibition features 16 of Victoria Grant’s most famous headpieces, each accompanied by beautiful images of the fashion & celebrity elite that modelled them under the spotlight. She has crowned Queen B (Beyonce), Rihanna – quite literally, with an exquisite lace crown ‘Regalis’ featured in Vogue- and created hats for Dita Von Tease, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Kate Moss, Cara Delevigne many more. To see Grant’s work in real life is really rather special; the level of detail is staggering, equally as bedazzling as her list of clients!

One piece in particular deserves your utmost attention. Victoria Grant has created a special piece of couture in memory of David Bowie. The headwear is named ‘Ziggy Stardust’ after Bowie’s famous alter-ego. In 1973 at the Cafe Royal, Bowie threw one final party as Ziggy before laying that part of himself and his career to rest. He was joined at this event by Mick Jagger, Lou Reed, Paul & Linda McCartney and a small crowd of other major celebrity guests.
It’s impossible not to name drop when discussing this exhibition. The last one we’ll throw in is Karl Lagerfeld, a long time champion of Grant’s millinerial talent who has already graced the exhibition with his presence – and a sly instagram snap!
