Thierry Mugler began his self-named fashion label in 1970’s in Paris focusing on women’s wear he reinvented “classical masculinity” giving his collection a “definitively modern” style.

Gaining international success, the designer combined his interest in fashion, photography and music, sharing his artistic vision with other creatives in these industries.

In 2010, Thierry stepped down as creative director of his brand, appointing Nicola Formichetti in his place, Nicola, already a creative mastermind having worked at Dazed and Confused and later at Vogue Hommes Japan.

This was followed by a collaboration with Lady Gaga and design post at Dolce & Gabanna, began his reign by rebranding the label as Mugler and introducing a men’s wear line for Autumn/Winter 2011.

For their debut men’s collection entitled “Anatomy of Change”, Underground partnered with Mugler on footwear influenced by fetish subculture, and again for SS12 to provide creepers for a collection dominated by golden armour, with modernised Mugler tailoring that contained 80’s references including pastel colours and stone washed jeans.
